The backstory: it’s 04:01 AM, I’m swimming in the brisk English channel of evanescent waves, Goos-Hanchen effects and chapter seven of Jackson’s ‘Classical Electrodynamics’. The above is (was) my paper bag of coffee, as of that time.

All of physics arises from a few unprovable postulates. Only a crackpot denies rigorous self-consistent derivation thereform. Empirically falsifying a founding postulate is a researcher’s wet dream: Euclid was dinged by elliptic and hyperbolic geomtries (the fall of the Fifth Postulate). Everybody was dinged by Thurston and his eight fundamental geometries of 3-space.

ALL of physics postulates isotropic vacuum (conservation of angular momentum through Noether’s theorems) and the Equivalence Principle. Both might be counterdemonstrated at will with an 8% anomaly amplitude observed over two days in commercial equipment. Nothing prior would be contradicted, but all of physics would be dinged as Newton (infinite lightspeed) was dinged by Einstein (finite lightspeed) and Yang-Lee tore “obvious” chiral symmetry out of particle physics.

    Somebody should look.

Thomas, I hope you are doing well (as you seem to be).

I enjoy hiding the coffee in my house and watching my parents go nuts.
